Metalfan: Hello Paulo and welcome to Metalfan!
Paulo: Hello there!!! Thank you!!!

Metalfan: You will release a new album on January the 23rd, titled "A-Lex", what do you feel that this new record brings new to the Sepultura sound?
Paulo: The most important is that we are presenting this line up to everyone and coming up with this new inspiration for our way to see the Clockwork Orange. Sounding ways, we were trying to bring a little roughness with  losing the Sepultura sound!!! Everyone is very happy with the final results so far!!!

Metalfan: Who came up with this idea to make an album inspired by the Anthony Burgess' novel "A Clockwork Orange"?
Paulo: The idea came at the reharsals here in São Paulo, talking among ourselfs and bringing ideas to have inspiration to compose. You always have to start from somewhere, and this novel it's a strong inspiration on many people, not only on Sepultura.

Metalfan: have you had any difficulties in convincing everyone in the band to make an album about "A Clockwork Orange"?

Paulo: It was a common decision. Not hard at all to choose the concept. The hard part was to represent the concept well, since been an very influencial and strong concept, and I think we did well....

Metalfan: What song on the album is the most important? I know all are important in a way or another, but which song do you feel it represents the best of "A-Lex"?
Paulo: There's no way that I can pick a most important one. Every song is part of the concept and represents a piece of it. At the moment, "We've lost You" is the working song that will represented by the first video clip. 

Metalfan: Do you have in mind to film a video for a song that is unusual for Sepultura? For example something that haves more to do with the story than with the band, but with a Sepultura feel?
Paulo: We've done it!!! We did a Bossa Nova song exclusivelly for tha VW car comercial... was fun!!!

Metalfan: From what I've seen the artwork seems to be very different from what you had on your last few albums, and it seems like it has more in common with the early days of the band. Do you see the things this way?
Paulo: It just came out like that. We just gave the artists the concept and that was the result. Looks great!!! But I think as well, that it does look like some of the old stuff.

Metalfan: Please tell us who did it, and also, was it a hard decision to make it this way or not?
Paulo: Dude... I can't remember at the moment. Can you check on the CD credits? Sorry!!!
 
Metalfan: How is the atmosphere in the band at this time? The general spirit?
Paulo: Everything is going GREAT. We are ready to go back on the road and we feel very happy with the final result of the album!!!

Metalfan: Getting back to "A-Lex", this is the first album without any of the Cavalera brothers in the band. How do you think that some of the Sepultura fans will see this, and what would you like to say to them?
Paulo: I don't have time to think of any of that!!! There are 4 men that represents Sepultura at this point. Every single one has done the best for this record. And we're VERY PROUD OF IT!!!

Metalfan: On the 7th of February you will play here in Romania, actually this is the second show of the tour. How do you feel about coming back to Romania for the third time?
Paulo: It's always great for us to come back to your country. Always had great concerts. Should be the same!!! The only bad thing is that it's going to be very cold for the Brazilians!!! Today we had 30 degrees here in São Paulo.

Metalfan: Are you planning to film some of songs from this tour for a future DVD?
Paulo: We will be filming as much as possible on this tour. We have the plans to put out something Special for the 25th aniversary.

Metalfan: Is there a Sepultura song that you've got tired to play live at this point?
Paulo: Sometimes... but I will not tell you...

Metalfan: As 2008 just passed, what's your favorite album from 2008?
Paulo: For me it is our new album A-LEX. we've been working on it all 2008 to collect the profits on 2009/2010.
