A while ago we were all astounded to discover a new direction in the music of the Icelandic living legend Sólstafir, an emphasis which submerged in the classic rock genre overlapping somehow the band’s well-known signature. It’s time to learn more about the vibe unfolding on the upcoming album “Berdreyminn”, which will be out on the 26th of May. Therefore, here’s the premiere of a longer track than the first published single taken from the new album, namely “Bláfjall”, which reveals a great amount of sonic melancholy and classical tension.

The meaning of ‘Bláfjall’ is blue – as in a black, black mountain, and it revolves around man’s battle against his own mind and those inner demons that often lead to self-destruction and harming one’s loved ones,” said frontman Aðalbjörn Tryggvason. “I have myself struggled with alcoholism and it remains a never-ending battle and continuously walking further up a mountain in foggy darkness. But this is also about hope, because there is a way out, but you have to grab that rope when it comes swinging towards you and hold on to it as tight as you can. Everybody can end up lost on the black mountain, or ‘Bláfjall’ in this case,” he added.

It looks like the new release of Sólstafir is selling out extremely fast given the multitudinous pre-orders. The Icelandic psychedelic musicians will embark on a tour in June and you can see below the first cities announced so far.
