There is no mystery in saying that time flies, so here we are in the moment when we must announce that Earth Electric’s full debut disc can be virtually spun on YouTube, although it feels like it was only yesterday when we spread the word about the foundation of this project. Led by guitarist Rune “Blasphemer” Eriksen (Aura Noir, Twilight of the Gods, ex-Mayhem), Earth Electric brings one of the most anticipated albums of this year, a compelling journey in the progressive rock realm. “Vol.1: Solar” will be physically released on the 12th of May by Season of Mist as digipack CD and Gatefold-LP in various colours.

Eriksen’s signature is perfectly hearable on this record, but the wonderful thing is that he goes into the exploration of the rock masters’ heavy music, such as Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. “Vol.1: Solar” is one of the greatest attempts at developing the traditional styles and keeping the legacy in an authentic way. The musical classicism is enhanced through compositional means and sometimes through surprising guitar tunes, while the psychedelic elements emerging from the keyboards mastered by Messenger’s Daniel Knight vary from space rock touches to experimental bursts and occult sonic experiences. The vocals of Carmen Simões (ex-Ava Inferi, guest & live member in Moonspell) are also the fundamental factors that place this album among the most powerful creations of this day and age, since her tempered singing manner shakes the classical rock approaches up and reveals a phantasmagoric emphasis. Bringing some ceremonial fragments here and there and some hippie attitude as well in an unfathomable fashion, “Vol.1: Solar” is the album which makes you leave your well-established routine and comfort and wander the world armed with no expectation besides a beautifully painted path.
