Watch the new Sólstafir video shot outside of Iceland
Those who follow the activity of Icelandic rock band Sólstafir are already familiar with their videos intertwining the beauty and the feelings of being isolated in the stunning, barren landscapes of the group’s home country, with the monumental themes and the melancholic tunes in their songs. But this time, Sólstafir presents a video shot outside of Iceland, and thus the musicians travelled more in the South. The video covers the third song from their new album “Berdreyminn”, which was released in May. Directed by Harri Haataja, the “Hula” clips shows still nature, ruined memories, instances of anxiety and wonderful captures of the Hill of Crosses, a pilgrimage site in Lithuania. “Aðalbjörn Tryggvason had this beautiful location at Hill of Crosses in mind and we thought that it would fit perfectly for this clip,” said Haataja. “We also found a couple of other great locations suitable for the story and aesthetic that we had in mind for our video,” he added.
On the other side, the band stated: “When we were on the road in 2013, we came across this place, Hill of Crosses in Lithuania. At the time, we just knew that we would have to shoot a video there one day. We developed a good working relationship with Vesa and Harri back in 2015 with the ‘Miðaftann’ video, and since they are both living in Finland, it seemed a good idea to send them over with the boat from Finland with the camera and help us fulfil this dream of ours.”

Sólstafir will begin a new European tour in the near future, starting on the 12th of November in Finland and reaching Russia, Ukraine, France, or Italy. For most of the dates, Sólstafir will be joined by Árstíðir and Myrkur. In this formula, the Icelandic musicians will arrive in Bucharest on the 5th of December, at Quantic Club and the following day they will play in Cluj- Napoca at Form Space.
