NILE - Ithyphallic

Some time ago, this style only had Morbid Angel and that was about it. We’re talking here about heavy and technical guitar playing, double bass drum, triggers, as much speed as possible and even a bit more, ferocity, evil voice, unexpected rhythm and tempo changes, daring and strikingly melodic solos. But then the gods created Nile and they saw that it was good. With a musicality that becomes more and more studied from an album to the next, with a finely tuned sound, Sanders and his band have become in the mean time a cult band and a benchmark when it comes to technical metal. The label is more or less appropriate for what we hear on the album, and  Morbid Angel references have become negligible. The band now has its own identity (lyrics have a great role in this) and Ithyphallic contains all the defining Nile elements and is, in my opinion, the most complete and complex album so far of the Americans.
