Anno Domini 1986: a year when music history was written. For many a cornerstone of the metal phenomenon, Master of Puppets seduces and intrigues fans of the genres. It is incredible how Metallica, after the anarchic Kill'em All and the pretentious Ride the Lightning, managed to climb to such a high level. Avalanches, waterfalls and other natural barriers of riffs, accompanied by overflowing solos on all instruments leave you gasping for air, powerless to make any movement after taking it all in. Above all rises James Hetfield’s voice as a dark angel, harbinger of the Apocalypse. Death bringer texts appear as the will and testament of the 4: politics, love, religion... nothing is shown any mercy! Ballad parts are incredible, put together by a mad clockmaker in the insane gear work of this record. With Master of Puppets the 4 took the world by storm and carried it on their shoulders until they released the next groundbreaker:... And Justice for All. But that is a different story. I will not go over each song in particular, because there is nothing to criticise. And not criticizing means praising...do I really need to?
