A nine-minute atmospheric post-metal track by Sylvaine is unveiled
Sylvaine has been always associated with the band Alcest, not only because of her collaboration with the French group’s founder Stéphane “Niege” Paut as session drummer, but also due to the sound resemblance. While relying on similar romancing tunes with Niege’s well-known style, Sylvaine makes the difference by creating a striking contrast between the ethereal atmosphere of shoegaze and post-rock influence and the harshness of a sort of black metal which often falls into the depressive pit in the fashion of Austere, to which are added shivery vocals and whirring screams. The newest single released by Sylvaine, “Mørklagt”, a nine-minute atmospheric post-metal piece reflects precisely all these mentioned tendencies.

Sylvaine is both the interpreter and writer of the music released under this name, while various session musicians are invited every now and then in the studio and for live performances. “Mørklagt” is taken from the upcoming album entitled “Atoms Aligned, Coming Undone”, which makes the third full album created by Sylvaine. The album was recorded and mixed by Benoît Roux, Anorexia Nervosa’s keyboardist, who is a faithful collaborator of Alcest, Glaciation and many others, and the drums where recorded by Alcest’s Niege and Stephen Shepard. “Atoms Aligned, Coming Undone” will be released on the 2nd of November.
